"For me, a painting should show viewers what they are familiar with but have never seen so clearly or distinctly.  The painting should act as a catalyst to crystallize the viewers' understanding of what they already know - it should bring that little gasp of recognition every time they see it.  This is the goal I am seeking as a painter, and it is very difficult one, but I pursue it enthusiastically because painting crystallizes my inner view also."
